Fairy tales effect the way you viewed gender?

How did fairy tales you heard or read as a child effect the way you viewed gender?

could anyone tell me what does this question means? what they are asking in this question to write. I read Anne Sexton's 'Cinderella', how it relates with this question/

Please help me with this question.

Well lets face it it's mostly girls that watch the fairy tale movies and I really truly don't think it has any affect on how you view genders. I think it just preps a female for life. If you notice, girls ALWAYS grow up playing with dolls and mini kitchens and have best friends that they're always with, our whole lives we are preparing ourselves for that fairy tale that we'll have a life, have someone to share it with, fall in love, have a family, and have a happily ever after. (Unfortunately life is not that simple.) I think it's more of a guide that female's sometimes map their futures out of but as far as a gender view is concerned, I think it makes a man look like a total fantasy. Let's face it, there's no prince out there that's going to come scoop us up and carry us off to happy ever after. And if there is, it's nothing more than the illusion of a prince and he will turn into a wicked witch in the end I'm sure. If not him then I'm sure the female will. Fairy tales should be seen as nothing more than a nice story for kids. Did you know in the old celtic version of little red riding hood the wolf brutally kills her. The american version doesn't tell you that though. And sleeping beauty stems from years and years ago as well.

It's a loaded question trying to get you to justify the position that all men are evil.
Argue that the postulation is invalid as it presupposes that fairy tales DID have some effect on your views of gender roles.

becasue little girls grow up thinking women should be treated like princesses. we all grow up waiting for a perfect man or a "prince" to marry us and take us away. we then expect life to be perfect and have a fairy tale "and they lived hapily ever after ending".

It's asking if reading fairy tale books makes you stereotype against certain genders (e.g. male is a knight, or prince, or brave), or makes you prefer one over the other (e.g. many fairy tales have girls as the main character).

Like in fairy tells the men are always portrayed as the hero, knight in shining armor, prince charming, etc. Men are strong protectors. The women are usually beautiful, royal, etc. , they are the damsels in distress, the ones needing to be saved/protected they are never mentioned to be smart ,the only ones who are clever are villians and they always fail. So I guess as a child I might think that when I was in trouble that I needed a man (prince charming) to come and save me, also I could have the idea that women with power are evil (Wicked Stepmother - head of household, Evil Queen - mystical power, etc.. all of these women have some sort of power over the weak and beautiful princess/girl). Men are often glorified in fairy tails - the woman is usually just a prize.

1. makes you think girls cant do anything for themselves and thus arises "YOU CAN'T JOIN OUR CLUB BECAUSE YOUR A GIRL!"(i hate those stories i swear im making a book where theres a man in distress and is saved by a woman :)
