When you order quail egg sushi, are you suppose to eat the whole egg or just drink the yoke like a shotglass?

You eat the entire egg with the sushi rice - the sushi is small enough to eat all together at one. One of my favorites!

According to Wikipedia, the raw quail egg is used as a topping for sushi. The whole egg is simply served raw, as a topping, like scrambled egg. I have never tried this, the only way I've had quail eggs, is hard boiled. I buy them in cans, and pickle them with olives and hot peppers. I serve them to guests as white olives. The pickling process toughens them to a texture similar to olives.

Tofu and eggs (in the form of slightly sweet, layered omelet called tamagoyaki and raw quail eggs ride as a gunkan-maki topping) are common.
