The proper weight as specified in the owners manual, change at the recommended interval and use a quality oil filter like Wix or Purolator. There is no advantage in lubrication properties between synthetic and conventional motor oils, synthetics simply last longer. Ridiculously expensive oils like Royal Purple and Amsoil are a complete waste of money, but people that cough up $ 8.00 (or more) a quart will swear it is the greatest thing in the world and make outlandish claims. Well, I guess if I was gullible enough to pay that much for oil I'd try my best to convince everybody I wasn't brain-damaged. All miracle oil additives like Lucas and Slick 50 are a scam...Lucas nullifies the anti-foaming properties of motor oils, and Teflon containing products like Slick 50 don't work as teflon cannot coat and adhere to metal at less than 500 degrees F (that's why Dupont and the Federal Trade Commission took all those crooks to court). Bottom line, buy a quality name brand oil that you like, and that doesn't bankrupt you, and stick with it.
