Collecting XBOX Live network data while online?

I'm running Linux and am somewhat familiar with the environment. Here's my setup, followed by my question.

Linksys wireless router

Xbox 360 + 360 WiFi card

Laptop+WiFi card+Wireshark & dozens of other tools

The 360 and the laptop connect to the wireless AP (router) using their cards (separately of course). I tried running Wireshark to sniff packets coming through the network while playing online the other day, but nothing good came up. A lot of "who has" requests and a few packets here and there. Here's my question...

Is there a way to connect like I'm doing now and monitor network traffic (packet sniffing) to find IP addresses of friends on LIVE when they come into a game/chat/party/etc?

There's 2 possibilities.

Either ALL the data goes through their servers and comes to us as we need it. So basically, we have NO way of gathering information outside of our own LAN.

Option 2, ALL or SOME of the data/information come through our own networks and a free to grab if you look in the right places. If this were the case, I'd expect to see data coming through on Wireshark when the game says "noobxboxteamkiller connected." because they're now in our game.

Anyways, hard to explain but I was wondering if it was at all possible.

You could use a packet sniffer...
