Are there ANY iPhone ring tone compatible songs in the itunes store AT ALL?

According to the "how to" at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1693 you can turn any song in itunes into a ring tone for your iPhone if it has the bell symbol next to it. I've checked my library and the itunes store and am yet to find a single compatible song. Is it because I'm in the UK or do they simply not exist?

Additional Details

When I right click something from the itunes store and click "create ring tone" I get this error message ( http://img168.imageshack.us/my.php?image… ) and have done every time I've tried. There's nothing wrong with the network or the connection.

You can use iTunes to convert songs to AAC format (standard ring tone format) using it's built-in import settings under "Edit" >> "Preferences". There you'll click the "Import Settings" button and choose the AAC format.

Then you'll right-click on a song and choose "Get Info", click the "Options" tab and set the Start and Stop times to about 30 seconds.

Next, right-click on the song and select "Create AAC Version". That will create a copy of the song in iTunes. Right-click again on the song and select "Get Info" to find out the location of the song on your file system.

Go open Windows Explorer or Finder and rename the file with a .m4r file extension, and then re-open it with iTunes. This will automatically put it in your Ringtones folder in iTunes and when you sync your iPhone it'll show up in your list of available ring tones.

If the song you're trying to convert is DRM Protected, then you'll first need to remove the DRM protection, which can be done legally with programs like Aimersoft's M4P convertor.

Thanks, I worked it out slightly differently - opening the AAC version in quicktime pro, shortening it then saving as a .m4r file - but it did the same job. Thanks for your help: a very comprehensive answer! :)
