Thats what I want to know too. The person who wrote the book, really either didn't know much about vampires, or completely changed it all. like letting vampires have babies... thats impossible.

No, only the vampires in Twilight will sparkle under the sunlight. Stephanie Meyer just want to make it unique, she wrote it the way she wanted too (No fangs, garlic, and other myths etc). She has changed a lot of myths about vampires in the book to make it more mysterious, and also so it wouldn't be as obvious to Bella that Edward was a vampire.

Vampires don't burn in the sun, well they do, but it's more like a real bad sun burn then an OMG i'm gonna die kind of burning (or so traditional law says). The whole thing about them burning to death and so on came through with the dracula stories along with the garlic, and stake through the heart theories. Traditional law says vampires can only be killed by decapitation. By saying that Edward glitters she has adapted him to make him fit into her story...THAT IS THE POINT IN FICTION! It is not based on what is said and know...it is based on the imagination of the writer. So Edward can glitter if he wants to.
