Are record cold temperatures "proof" of "Global Warming?"?

When temperatures are up this is proof of "Global Warming" but when temperatures hit record lows, as they are at this moment in the USA, is this also proof of "Global Warming?"

How about if temperatures are just like they've been in the past? Am I right in guessing that this will also be solid proof of "Global Warming"

Indeed, is there ANY weather condition which is not absolute, indisputable proof of "Global Warming?"

Is there anything (even things which are unrelated to climatology) which is not proof of "Global Warming"

I like your question.

It does seem that every bad or extreme weather condition has got to blamed on 'Global Warming' and that mankind is the cause of it and should repent for his sins and do something immediately to solve the 'problem' before it is too late!
Some people are convinced that we are already doomed and that we didn't act soon enough to prevent the ultimate disaster that is just around the corner which will wipe out 99% of all species on earth including man!

All of this flies in the face of the evidence and facts.
This has nothing to do with science. It only requires a belief.

And like you say the weather no matter how extreme is not anything which hasn't happened many many times in the past and even long before man even evolved or had any possible way of affecting anything other than the occasional animal which had to be killed for his food in order to survive.

As far as evolution is concerned, it is also a theory which could never be proved but is far more likely and makes sense to me but I will not try to shove my belief in that theory down someone throat who happens to believe in creationism, unlike the few supporters of this one!

If the facts point to flaws in the belief, instead of re-thinking the subject or accept the proof that the theory was invalid, the so-called scientists will go back and do a little tweaking with their computer models in order to come up with an explanation that should support their belief.
It is difficult for many people to actually understand that a computer is nothing more than a fast computational tool which relies on data input and carries out the instructions in the designed software which is being
used. It only tells you what it was instructed to do. So either faulty data or faulty program, no valid output. GIGO (garbage in garbage out)!

And as to the last part of your question, I have seen and heard some people that may think that earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes could be linked to 'Global Warming'! I hope that they are a simple minority and I really do mean 'Simple' in this case.

In my opinion, science and technology is being abused on this issue in far too many ways.

The AGW theory is unscientific. Basically, proponents give no scenario wwhere they'd accept that their theory has no legs. It's rather like saying 'there are countless alien civilizations, which we cannot interact with'. Huh? You cant prove this to be false-or true.

Besides, since conventional models ignore water vapor (perhaps only considering the albedo effect of clouds) which is responsible for 95% of the greenhouse effect, i doubt the intellectual honesty of the proponents

If the farmers sources are right, we are cooling. More scientists every day are saying the evidence points to global cooling.

I have recently read and article about this where a person had asked this nearly exact same question. Basically it states that yes that is proof of global warming primarily that even the localized climatology are trying to counter react this global warming. Kind of how a swing or pendulum work. Now imagine one side representing hot and the other cold and gage the degrees of temp on each side accordingly( such as the higher the rise of the swing the hotter or colder aw hell you get it right???) Anyways the harder you push on the swing from the hotter side the higher the swing is going to go in the colder side. Get it?!?! I hope that has somewhat solved that query for you even in the slightest.

I don't think so. Records are only as good as those who keep them and also only as valid as the time they were kept. I have little faith in the record keeping as well as those who mark the records and also the devises we are using to keep them. I think there are a number of factors that contribute to both ur records, record keeping and thus we all can't really know anything for certain. My personal (and yes, uneducated) view is that our air, our land, and or water is what created us and keeps us alive and fertile, therefore we should, as we have been trying to, understand, respect and nurture we should be giving as much, if not more, of what we are given. Even then there is no guarantee. But I do know that where there is life on earth we are apart of it and we have the knowledge destroy or assist.

your going to get allot of answers that say "Winter generally makes tempretures colder"

If i remember the GHE still happen in winter but with less sunlight..... but that sunlight if it was the same strength as last year's winter, according the the GHE the winter should also be warmer then the average!

do people ever listen to details? humans release a lot of heat trapping pollutants. and then in winters particulates from pollution reflect sun rays and that can make winters colder.

didnt they warn us that cell phones are harmful? now scientists say that they arent strong enough to cause any serious injury. saying that global warming isnt true cause of cold winters, is the same as saying that cell phones arent harmful cause you still havent got a tumor from them. wait for more results, global warming will affect our great grandchildren, not necessarily us.

Individual warming or cooling events aren't 'proof' of global warming or cooling. Firstly, proof is a mathematical thing, and secondly, scientists don't argue this - it's more likely to be the popular media being unscientific. You're better off sticking to the scientific literature.

samsmartkid's wrong about climate models not including water vapour. They were included as far back as 1997[1], with modern models doing a better job[2][3].

Also, there are things that could 'disprove' global warming. For example: measurements of the Earth's radiation and CO2's absorption bands showing that CO2 does not absorb radiative heat from the Earth & its atmosphere would be a good one. Otherwise, you can only make conclusions based on large amounts of data, like decadal trends etc.

No.The recent cold temperatures are proof it's wintertime. Look at a calender.

the news go's to great lengths to always put that slant on it.
for example in the last 24 hours 2 different reports in the popular press admitted the average temp for 08 was cooler than usual (1 said 2008 was 57.9 the other said 57.74) then used 2 or 3 paragraphs to explain why it didn't mean anything.
if the average temp go's up a tenth of a degree the headline always says "warming increases at an alarming rate"
what annoys me is the near impossibility for the average person with a computer to get the actual average temp. in degrees for any given year.
most sites have very imprecise line graphs with varying beginning dates & broad graduations.

its no wonder there are so many conspiracy theory's & general distrust of the popular press.

Some people want so badly to believe in global warming that they will attribute anything to global warming whether or not it is actually related.

GW is a scam to make money ,U should get into it ,like collecting corbin foot print money. Make speeches of how bad it could be. The left will do nothing to increase oil production as they are protecting the environment.

No, if there were record cold temperatures, they would not be proof of global warming.

The fact that the average global temperature has been steadily increasing is proof of global warming, as you can see in the links below.

Are they "proof" of "Global Warming"? No, it's just weather.
BUT! Since there is more energy in the earth's planetary weather systems there could be changes in the circulation patterns that bring cold continental arctic south into the continent's interior. In winter this increase in energy may cause a lengthening the lobes of Rossby Wave pattern that encircles the planet and an intensification of arctic highs in the northern interior of the continent. The end result would be arctic air being pushed south over the continent more frequently and further than has been observed in the past. The opposite would be true over the oceans as warm moist air is drawn further north.
Is this what we are seeing right now over the interior of North America? I don`t know, it could be but probably not. We usually get a cold blast of air this time of year in the interior. It`s just weather.
So, it`s not proof of global warming, but I`m not ruling out that it`s a not a symptom.

So the bottom line is global warming can cause your winter weather to get cooler.
