It is masterful. It is an account of an unwed mother who offers the "ultimate" protection for her child. First to allow him into the world to begin with. Second, to nurture and explore him in the "time" they have together...bond, as it were. Third is a refusal to "tarnish" the baby by naming the father. Last, never wavering in the relinquishment of her infant to adoption so the child may have a loving home in which to grow. It is a poem of ultimate love and sacrifice. It is a poem of hope.

First thanks for expanding my mind a bit. I don't think I would have ever read that poem had I not seen your question. After reading it, I have not idea what it means, she brands her child a bastard and lets him up for adoption maybe. This is all emotional women stuff so I probably shouldn't understand it.
