Nightmare of a job, take it to an independant bmw specialist, they seem to be able to do it quicker than an everyday garage.

    I agree, my 318i had the same problem, I did it myself but, man it was a chore, It took forever to get the old one out and then I kept separating the new one when I was trying to put it back in. Lot easier to take it to someone, unless you know what your doing and think you can handle it, you have been forewarned.
