Barack Obama "The AntiChrist"?

So today I was talking to a cousin who happens to be extremely religious and says he is in love with Jesus. I always found myself to be the complete opposite of my family, for example, I don't take the bible literally as they do but today, Oh goodness. So my cousin told me that people are starting to say that Barack Obama is the AntiChrist, no joke, Barack Obama, like... THe AntiChrist. And their basis... Well the fact that according to them the Bible says the AntiChrist would be someone who would come to power unexpectedly and apparently Barack Obama has characteristics of the AntiChrist. Now let me make sure everyone knows that I think this is ridiculous and is just a topic of conversation that people who are not only racist but had nothing better to do came up with. Also the fact that people have many times in history mentioned Presidents from the United States to be the AntiChrist because of America's power in economy and all. They also said that Ronald Wilson Reagan was the AntiChrist because each of his name had 6 letters and according to the Bible the number of the beast is 666. It is just ridiculous that people would think America is an agent or that American presidents are the AntiChrist because of our respect for people's right and because we are an economically "stabled " country even in a time of recession or depression like now. Anywhose, Have you hear dd this latest rumor and how ridiculous do you think it is?

Additional Details

This entire thing started because my family is racist against Americans, they live in another country a country that is I believe 100% Christian or if not the people who follow other religions hide from everyone else. Anywhose, they believe Americans to be agnets of the AntiChrist and that bothered me because that would mean as an American I am one too.

Your cousin is a certified idiot is the problem.

Also a bad Biblical scholar.

The so-called Anti Christ of the Book of Revelation has been exhaustively researched and identified as the Emperor Nero of Rome.

Tell cuz to give it a rest.

Game's over.

Bush fits the definition of "antichrist" more closely.

His legacy of war, death, destruction, deceit, cronyism, and financial disaster is unparalleled by any other president, hence his extremely low "popularity" rating.

Bush & Cheney are more interested in giving billions to their cronies than in solving the problems of America.

And those silly self-righteous pseudo-Christians who go around judging others (strictly against the Christian faith) simply pervert the very meaning of Christianity to suit their own personal prejudices.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged," but that's no fun, so they conveniently ignore it, so that they can feel smug and spiritually superior.

    Hypocrites.

I have met some very gullible, paranoid, superstitious and thoroughly limited people, and they're as susceptible to religious fundamentalism as to any other whacked out idea. I have no idea what to do about it, except to try to encourage them to be more thoughtful. I'm not too good at this, though, since it's hard not to just snort and tell them they're nuts.

There is a lot of money in the business of religion. In order to keep the flock glued to their seats you have to make it interesting and exciting. There is a correlation between devoutly religious and low intellect. This is just another example of fleecing the flock.

The whole thing is stupid and gotten out of hand. Where I work, there was a guy who was absolutely depressed over the fact that Obama got elected. He kept going on and on about it (he's very religious). I wanted to tell him to either grow up or see a psychologist, but I didn't.

    Obama is not the antichrist.

We actually had to fire someone at work because she came in spouting this garbage. Just crazy people looking for someone to blame because they didn't get their way.

I have a few words of wisdom for you, and all of them come directly
from the Living Word of God:

First, no matter what group you choose to evaluate, whether it be Christians, Buddhists, athiests, or some knitting circle, you can bet you're gonna find some nutjobs there. Ignore them.

Second, Biblically speaking, Barack Obama, along with every other human being on Earth, CANNOT BE ANTICHRIST, because according
to Scripture only one entity will play the role of Antichrist, and that's
Satan himself. That said, don' ask me to comment on whether Obama is evil or not; the fact is that it doesn't matter, because he is
doing the works of Satan - along with his new age guru friends like
Oprah Winfrey and the other wack jobs - the great authors of pure
    bullshhhhit.

Another reason Barack can't be Antichrist is because Scripture states
that the first "jesus" on the scene is the fake - Antichrist; but he will come disguised and pretending to be Jesus Christ, not Barack Obama.
He will do miracles and profess himself to be God. Nope, won't
quite fly: It was Louis Farraghkan, Obama's friend, who first referred
to him as the "messiah"; as insulting as that is to the Lord, it's still
just nothing more than a very bad joke.

When Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, there were people in my school who said the same thing. Once people start getting comfortable telling rumors, the walls come down on lying pretty quickly. The conspiracy nuts starts coming out of the woodwork with hundreds and theories about secret societies and secret gov't plans and secret everything. Timothy McVeigh, who blew up the Murrah building in Oklahoma City belonged to a church called the Church of Jesus Christ Christian, a church founded on conspiracy theories. He blew up the building because conspiracy theories had convinced him that the gov't was planning to put Christians into concentration camps and he thought it would slow them down if he blew up a records center (there is absolutely no truth to any of this, by the way).

And all this nonsense happened because right-wing fanatics can't handle a Democrat as a president. Imagine how they must feel now that that Democrat is also an African-American?

The whole "antichrist" load of BS is a way misdirected Christians use to justify hate...after all, they know they are not to hate their fellow man, but they are allowed to hate the devil, so they embrace the rumor-mongering of other Christians to convince themselves they aren't doing wrong.

Study Preterism...it will help you escape the paranoia of this madness, and you may be able to help your family through their nightmares too - we don't need anymore Christians preforming acts of terrorism...
