What is a firewall on a car and where is it located?

i have a 1968 caprice im selling and somebody ask what is the firewal number but i can't find it and i do ot know what it is

firewall is everything surrounding the engine

The firewall is the wall between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. It prevents engine fires from entering the passenger area. Some cars will have numbers on the firewall, drivers side. Check near the steering column.

This is a barrier between the engine and the dash. I don't know about a firewall number, but I do know that is where it is located. Between the dash and engine to help prevent and fires from engine coming in on you. Good luck :~ )

The firewall is between the engine and the passengers. It's that wall behind your speedometer. There is no such thing as a firewall number. If they want the VIN that's on a plate you can see through the windshield on the drivers side, and on the drivers door panel, also on the title and registration.

Firewall is the old terminology which indicates the partition between the engine compartment and the driver/passengers used on old jalopies. It is the sheet metal that goes down from the windshield to the under side of the car directly behind the engine. Today's correct terminology is 'bulkhead'. The numbers you are looking for are inside the car on top of the dash right behind the windshield on the driver's side.

the fire wall is that big plate just behind the engine, you know the one the master cylinder or the brake booster is bolted to it.
