How can people like torture movies?

Doesn't anyone think it's a little odd that so many people can sit through some of these torture movies and actually ENJOY them? Doesn't it sicken anyone? I have seen little snippets of these movies in the past and I could not sleep for days. I just kept thinking of the poor victim and how horrible it must have been to go through such torture.

Has our society lost all empathy and compassion? Doesn't it bother you that people get tortured like this EVERY DAY in the real world? Why on earth would you want to watch a whole movie about it!

People can watch these kinds of movies and enjoy them because they are just that, movies. We all know that they are merely works of fiction and that the writers and directors in no way condone the real life torture of people.

One could argue that it is those who can enjoy these types of movies that are more grounded in reality. It is those people who see those others as sick and depraved who are the ones that have lost touch with reality. This is because those who get offended by these are those who cannot distinguish between what is real and what is fiction. We all know that these movies are not real.

And yes, we know torture happens in real life, but you must keep in mind the difference between enjoying a movie, and condoning torture in reality.

When people are in a deep depression they want to see people who are in more pain then they are and enjoy watching them suffer until they DIE!

It's not so much that people like then, it's the idea of what they are, to know that they are completely fake, yet to trick your mind into beleiving they are real. Of course, there are those sick people who actually enjoy watching others in pain for real, but I can't speak for them.

Our society has been so desensitized to that type of thing that the amount of gore doesn't matter anymore. I work at a movie theater, and I have seen many parents taking their small children (I mean like three year-olds) into these gory films (such as hostel). Interestingly, they seem to care more if there's any nudity/sex than if anyone is being tortured in the movie.

yea i dont get it either, i had this thought and im like does any one have any idea that there are sick sick people out there who may see this and want to do the same to some else. this movies is made for enertaiment but id hate to hear of some one doing thid for real and im afraid it may happpen
