It means it's all in the past so why worry. If two friends have an argument and then make up, they might say that their prior disagreement is all water under the bridge.

That's my interpretation.

Like all the drama just comes to you, but you are strong enough to let it flow under you without it interfering with your well being.

It just means it is done and over with... you know the water has already passed and is under the bridge so don't worry about it anymore!

It means you can't change what has already transpired. It's too late to do anything about it so just move on.

Another expression meaning the same thing often used is 'Water over the dam.'

However, I had a friend who mistakenly interchanged the two and often incorrectly said, Water UNDER the dam' or 'Water OVER the bridge.' ;-)
