I grew up in San Diego. So naturally I have a certain nostalgia for SoCal. Having said that, taxes in CA are so horrendous, I wouldn't recommend anyone live there, unless you can make a ton of money. Since I only make average money, I now live in Nevada.

As far as earthquakes, don't worry about it. Everyplace has some sorta danger. The CA Franchise Tax Board is more dangerous than any earthquake.

I would definetly move to California, its an amazing and beautiful place. I don't think earthquakes would be any reason not to move there.

Now that is funny because that is exactly what happened to me.

I went to California to see my fiance' and right when I got off the plane they had an earthquake. I'm from Missouri, and never experienced one before. My fiance' laughed at me because he doesn't like tornadoes that we have here. I know too that we have a faultline called the New Madrid, and could have one around here. But I chose not to move to California anyway.

You know... I wouldn't want to live in California because I wouldn't want to move from where I live now! I'd miss every one I know. That is my only reason. California is a nice place to live, though. But the only nice parts (to me) are loaded with people. Eathquakes... not one of my huge concerns. Umm... I really have no idea of "Prodicted Future Calif. Earthquakes" or anything like that, but there hasn't ever really been this enormous earthquake all over the news in my life time. There hasn't ever been "Devastating California Eathquake. Millions flocking to nearby States!" headlines... so here's my philosophy:
If you are planning to move, why not give it a try? Yes, you should look into it... I would really just search on google, and if you move, you can always go back to wherever you live, so why not be spontaneous?! Hope I helped! :D

I will love to move to california(i live in newyork) because all my interests are done there..like: water polo, surfing and watersports period,,, also iwnt to be in the olympics 2012 for water polo n im convince that ill have a greater chance to make it if i live there..... IN CONCLUIsON, nada/ NOTHING/zit/zilch(....could go on) WILL MAKE ME NOT WANNA MOVE THERE.... still will wanna go even if i heard there's a 99% chance of an annual earth tremour, because to me i think it aint that detrumenal anywayz....... neva go there n i soo wanna move out there, but if u have the choice to move out there, gyrl luv it up!

I have lived in Southern California for 10 years and only been through a couple of significant earthquakes. One 7.1 and one 4.3. Neither was that bad, definitely not a reason for me to move away. Every area has it's own natural disasters.

What I would worry about right now is the cost of living.

I'm from California. Sometimes I get sick of the materialistic lifestyle. Nothing is natural specifically to LA. I have experienced earthquakes and now I am actually traumatized by them. So stupid because I have lived here all my life but everytime something shakes I freak out. Now we're just waiting for the "big one". Oh well.

I LOVE California and I would LOOOVE to live there. I used to think I might not want to live there b/c of earthquakes but not really anymore. When I went to SF 2 summers ago I was afraid there was going to be an earthquake when we crossed the bay bridge and we'd fall in the water. Haha. But I love Ca and would love to move there.

I grew up there and I've got to say that it would be a wonderful place to live if it wasn't overcrowded, materialism driven, ultra-liberal, & expensive. The earthquakes have been few and far between in the past 5-10 years, but many say that the "big one" is coming. I'm a Christian and I believe God will take care of me no matter where I am, but others may not feel that assurance within themselves. I miss the beaches, the mountains and the endless entertainment. I don't miss the atmosphere you have to put up with to enjoy it. Wildfires have been worse than ever too. But If you believe you're supposed to be there - you'll enjoy it.
