How can I delete my facebook account forever?

I don't want to deactivate i want to delete...

First log-into Facebook. Then click this link:
http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php…

Hit the blue Submit button and your account will be deleted in a few days. Be careful though -- once you delete it's permanent! You lose all your information. Make sure you log-in first before clicking the link; otherwise, you will get a generic contact form.

This is not true. I have tried everything to no avail. My account was "deleted" for more than 3 years if not longer.. out of curiosity i recently tried to log in and hey... i logged straight in as if nothing had happened. its plain evil. warn people you like.

To actually DELETE your or someone elses account, you have to send in a death-certificate to facebook. This can also be achieved through the tool made my 'Unkown'.

THANK YOU!! Ive been trying to deactivate my old account for MONTHS now & accidentally log in when I, by habit, use my old email address. me &my fiance thank you. ha.

oh... just saw the rest of the comments. GAH. well... well see what happens in 2weeks+ when I inevitably log in again accidentally:\

I had the same problem, i believe it has gotten harder now? i found a helpful answer at http://www.howtodeletefacebookaccount.net. There are alot of sites out there now that are very helpful :)
