Is anyone familiar with a trojan horse agent_r.CX found within Zone Alarm program file?

AVG anti virus had found a trojan horse named _r.CX within a free version of the firewall program ' zonealarm ' file.

Download and run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from http://www.spywaregeeks.com/rogue-antisp… to check your computer for all kinds of threats.

It's just a false positive that occurred with the AVG update.
They will fix it in a couple days or you can mark it as an execption on AVG if you leave resident shield on. I wouldn't worry about it if it's only in your zonelabs directory.

Yep, it's a false positive. Problem is AVG is now blocking Zone Alarm from protecting your PC. You should do what our good friend who answered before me suggested and make it an exception within AVG.

    Follow these steps

    1.Open AVG

    2.Double click Resident Shield

    3.Click Manage Exceptions

    4.Click Add Path

5.You will now select a directory to be excluded from resident shield

    - Click My computer
    - Click C:
    - Click Windows
    - Click system32
    - Click ZoneLabs

    then click OK

the excluded path should look like this

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\

That will stop the annoying threat alert popping up and keep Zone Alarm active. Was just a problem with the latest AVG update. It should be corrected on the next update.

Don't worry about it dude. It's a problem with the latest AVG update reporting a false positive. Everyone is getting these issues. Just google it and you'll see what I mean. For now, just ignore it until AVG releases an update.

Go here to the AVG forums to see what others are saying:

    http://freeforum.avg.com/list.php?4

Until then, tell AVG to ignore those files by doing this:

Double-Click "Resident shield" in the main AVG window and click "Manage exceptions" and click "Add Path" and add C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs to it. Then click "ok" and then "Save changes". This way, it will ignore those files until AVG can put out a correct update.

It is a FALSE POSITIVE from AVG. Its a problem with the last AVG update from this afternoon (10/13) DO NOT quarantine the files or your Zone Alarm will not work. ZA needs the files to run properly. AVG will most likely fix it in an update within the next couple days

    Thanks Steve S ;)
The trojan seems to be false-positive. I had the same situation Monday.morning and uninstalled Zone Alarm after trying to do a system restore 3 times.
I wonder if the "trojan horse agent_r.CX" could be the cause of System Restore not working normally?
I'll wait for AVG update then reinstall Zone Alarm.

First I get the same issue as everybody here. AVG advise me you have an trojan horse named Agent_r.CX in the ZoneLabs/lib/

I remove zone alarm from my computer. Re-install it without AVG active. After the install I've try to run Zone Alarm and the program won't response. After that I left my computer for the night and this morning I get a new warning from AVG who telling me the problem is now in my C:\System Volume Information\{Restort_0808088048040} and AVG's found the same trojan: Agent_r.CX so it seem to spread out in the computer by corrupting your Firewall than he start to corrupt your disk system file. But a trojan can't do this by it self, a virus must be at the base of the problem but I can't find it.

There is no virus affecting ZoneaAarm but AVG with a update on Oct 13 or 14 started reporting agent_r.CX as a threat. This is FALSE detection by AVG.

This is a false positive. It is an error in the AVG update of its virus database. Just wait for AVG to relese another update. You can google this topic and find out more information.
