The term originally referred to the years when a woman was biologically best suited to bear healthy children, usually around 16-24. Since having children was considered the purpose of marriage it was also considered the best age for a woman to get married, hence a "woman in her Prime." "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie", was a Scottish novel, later adapted as a play, a movie, and a BBS television drama. Miss Brodie was a Scottish school teacher who, in her best years of teaching, touched and inspired the students in the way a mother might.

I would say from 18-30.

after 30 a woman is not usually as attractive as she used to be socially. Put a woman that is 20 next to one that is 40, and almost every time I bet the 20 yr old one will be picked as more favorable.

It's not my thoughts on it, it is how society as a whole views things.
