Can you really catch a cold from going outside without a jacket?

Seeing as though the common cold is a virus, is it actually even possible to catch a cold just because one is outside without a jacket? Wouldn't one actually have to be exposed to the virus itself, therefore having nothing at all to do with being outside without a jacket?

It's not as simple as not wearing a jacket outside but if it's very cold outside it can lower your resistance to warding off viruses.

okay, there IS this thing that when you lower your body temperature too much your defenses lower. In lowering your defences there is a higher probability that you will catch viruses coming from other people.

Viruses are more frequent in winter (thats why people hypothesise that cold is THE issue) because people spend more of their time inside their homes, where viruses are spread most about in being in closure and cosy-like (where viruses are most present in- which is why school is also a germ pool because of its closure and MANY family viruses inertwined).

So, not wearing a jacket, or going outside with your hair wet will get you colder, but it is not the cause for getting a cold, unless again, the temperature is at an extreme-like where your defenses lower. If your lucky at that point to not be around people with viruses -you're good

    - I actually read a magazine article on this !

Realistically, it seems impossible to get sick this way. However, any time that I've walked around in cold wet boots or the like, I've gotten sick without fail. Maybe it has something to do with being cold lowers your resistance to viruses? I'm not sure.

no, your bodies temp is lowered and doesnt fight off virus as easily. and being cold can even bring some virus up. thats what i was told anyway. but there are many different things out there. i know when i had surgery the room was COLD they said it helps infection not set in ???? and people get colds in the summer. another world mystery ? have a good one.
