Which is your favourite portrayal of Mrs Lovett in the play/film Sweeney Todd?

Either Patti or Angela. They have the voice and character for Mrs.Lovett.

Ms Lansbury, hands down. Seconded by Ms Lupone. (Not in the revival where they played the instruments too - didn't like that much - but in the staged concert). Lastly Mrs Burton / Bonham Carter. It's a good idea to cast singers in singing roles.

I personally like Patti LuPone's version of the character - Angela Lansbury sang it very well but her characterization annoyed me after a while! Helena Bonham Carter acted well - I did like the motherly side to Mrs Lovett - but her singing was pretty awful, she'd never have got away with it on stage.
