Churches Supposively Oppose Halloween?

Question

I've never understood Churches that say they oppose halloween but Celebrate it on a different day. What the heck is the difference between dressing up on the 30th and dressing up on the 29th.If Churches oppose halloween so bad they shouldn't have an alternative day. that is confuessing and hipocritical.

Churches do oppose halloween where I live, the kids in the local area are invited to come to the church that night where the receive candy and learn about Jesus.

Exactly--it also makes me mad when they oppose halloween and then have an "October 31st" celebration at the church. Go figure.

well, first of all. My church, doesn't exactly oppose it. They just make an alternative for the kids instead. They make it really fun and just want them to be safe at the church than going out late at night.

Non Christians are just as hypocritical. Its not fair to say all are. PEOPLE are in general. The adjective describing them has nothing to do with it.

Churches aren't celebrating halloween. They make an alternative to it.

you absolutely right! it's also hypocritical to celebrate easter and christmas if you don't see it as a christian holiday. its a nationally recognized christian holiday.as i say"Do it all.Or don't do it at all".

At my church what we do is have a game night and praise God with singing. We don't dress up. It's fun.

Many churches feel that Halloween "worships" devils, ghosts and all that is bad. Actually, the practice was to scare away the the ghosts and ghouls. Also all saints day was when many people visited the graves of family members to celebrate their lives. It's gotten kind of mixed up over the years.

i've never heard of any churches doing what you claim. my church has never celebrated the day nor an alternative day. and i've been at this church since i was a little girl (im 24 now).

Halloween was supposed to be All Saints Eve,a Holy day.
Churches oppose Halloween because it glorifies evil, and their practices. (Witch Craft,Blood Sacrifices,Devil worship and criminal activity.)

Most Christian churches have a alternative Harvest Party.
The kids dress up like farmers or Biblical characters.
They celebrate with Hay rides,bobbing for apples,candy,cakes, competitive games, and prizes. Churches want the children to have fun and be safe from all harm.

I personally wish that each State would ban Trick or Treating,and let the parents have private parties for their children and friends. This way no child would be harmed from candy or fruit tampering.
