Has anyone read Geek Love by Katherine Dunn?
What did you think of it? I'm thinking about giving it a go.

I loved the first two-thirds of this book. The premise that this lunatic genius created freaks on purpose by feeding his wife different drugs and poisons with each pregnancy (in order to make sure his carnival always had a freak show) and the characters were fascinating. The last third of the book concentrated on the narrator, the albino hump-backed dwarf, the most "normal" of the children wasn't as exciting as the rest of the book. But, you should definitely read it - it's a wonderful book.

That book is forever burned into my mind. It's simply one of those pieces of literature that's impossible to forget (and weird enough that you may want to). I recommend it to a lot of people. It's one of the most beautiful, yet disturbing books I've ever read. If you haven't tried it, definitely do!

Yes, I read it last year. I want to read it again! It's one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it to anyone who can "stomach" it, since it involves controversial and morbid material, which is not everyone's cup of tea. But if you read it with an open mind, it's really a unique and moving story that no other novel can compare to. :)
