When you are on a job interview it is a good idea to have at least one question to ask at a job interview to show an interest in the job. When you interview with a company your interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you. The more questions you ask the better chance you have of finding out if that company is a good place for you to work.

1. Question to ask at a job interview

Can you describe a typical day at this job? This question will give you a good idea what is expected of you and what you have to look forward to if they offer the job to you and you decide to take the job.

2. Question to ask at a job interview

Could you please describe your ideal candidate for this job? This question will help you learn if you have the qualities or personality that the company is looking for.

3. Question to ask at a job interview

Can you describe some of the best and worst aspects of this job? This question will get the interviewee to give you some of the aspects of the job that may not suit your style and will help you uncover some of the possible negatives that the job position has.

4. Question to ask at a job interview

Why are you currently hiring for this position? This question will give the good indication if the company is growing and expanding or the person that was previously in the position decided to leave or was let go.

5. Question to ask at a job interview

Who are the major competitors of your company? Find out the major competitors of the company you are interview with and you will get a good idea of their position in the market and if there is opportunity for growth within this industry.

    Be yourself.
    Don't lie.
Ask any questions you have about the job.

First and foremost - relax. Of course, this is easier said than done but the fact that you already have a job within the company will work very much in your favour.

Second - prepare yourself as much as you possibly can by thinking of the types of questions they might ask you and formulating your answers ahead of time. What were the responsibilities of the previous shop foreman? How do you think you could improve on what he/she was doing? Coming from a non-management position, what ideas or observations do you have as to how the operation could be made safer and more efficient? Even if these aren't the questions they ask you, it will help you to solidify a train of thought in your mind and churn up all of those things that you may have forgotten about from long ago that will help to make you look like the concerned and responsible employee that you are. The better prepared you are, the more confident and relaxed you will be in the interview.

Third - have a list of questions prepared. Having some thoughful questions of your own ready to ask will show that you're interested in learning and becoming a better asset to the company. Nobody expects you to know everything, but they do expect to see that as you move into management you have the capacity to look beyond the obvious, everyday issues and keep the bigger picture in mind.

    Best of luck to you!

Do your homework not only about the company, but the position itself.
Think about what you can add to the position you want, do you have ideas of how to make life better for the employees you could potentially be managing?
Express your interest and excitement about the position by asking questions, but make sure they are questions you legitimately want to know.
    Be honest and be yourself.
Be concise, but explain the great things you have done to add value to the company.
Provide examples, don't just tell the interviewer you are a leader or a team player, tell them situations where you have led or had a successful team. Hope this helps!
