Certain elements such as iron have more than one abundant ion. In the case of those metals you would use the Roman numerals. You dont need Roman numerals for these two.

Al2O3 is Aluminum Oxide
Al(NO3)3 is Aluminum Nitrate

    Al2O3-Aluminum Oxide.
    Al(NO3)3-Aluminum Nitrate.

you use roman numerals only when indicating a metal that could make more than one positive charge (most transition metals).
Since Aluminum is always Al3+, u dont need roman numerals.
