Although Obama is not my choice, to be fair and put into context the comment released today on the murder rate in Chicago, the statistic was that more people were murdered in Chicago last month than were killed in Iraq last month. Now that said, what does it say about Chicago and its leaders or even better what does it say about the progress in Iraq?

My fathers family are Italians from Chicago .They moved out west in the 1930's and 40's.
So tell me two things .Since when has Chicago not had this problem?
And have you noted McCain's very personal and strong ties with the New York Mafia Bonanno crime family? Out here in the South west we know very well about McCain's ties to the Mafia.

Is there a reason that you didn't mention NYC, LA, Baltimore, and many other large suburban areas numbers also tops that of Iraq?

Also, that Iraq number is Americans....forgets to mention all the Iraqis that have been killed.

Chicago is like any other big city, it has good and bad areas. I don't have to put on a kevlar vest and drive my armored humvee to go down the street.

In the deadliest year in Iraq (2007), 961 Americans were killed. No more than 452 were killed in Chicago in the 3 years since Obama has been a Senator. Since Obama took office as Senator in 2005, the number of homicides dropped by 7 (459 to 452), whereas in Phoenix (John McCain's State's largest city), the homicide total went from 138 to 225 ( an INCREASE of 87 deaths). You can think about who has done the most for their state/largest town in this way too, maybe by actually comparing them!

Since when does a State Senator control the police department of a city? Isn't that the mayor's job? Seems to me the Mayor of Chicago is responsible for reducing crime not the Illinois state Senator. Now if it's funding for the state that's something different

Just like Hillary Clinton is a New York State senator but Mayor Bloomberg is responsible for New York City, it's police force and ultimately crime reduction.

It's getting to be a bad habit how Republicans are banking on the stupidity of the American public.
