What do you think about the Mayan Prediction of 2012 (winter solstice) being the end of time?

The mayan calendar is extremely accurate, more accurate than the one we use now, and has predicted solar and lunar ecclipses two thousand years in advance. I think this is very interesting, what do you think?

Additional Details

Please people,

I prefer answers from those who are familiar with the mayan calendar. A calendar both literally and scientifically more accurate than the one we use now. These people built gigantic pyramids without an iron age - try building a trump tower without an ounce of metal. They weren't just anyone. NEXT!

Correct! It's not a prediction for the end of time, and "the end of the world or time" is in fact a narccissistic human delusion. What change do you think will occur?

Scientifically it is possible as explained on various documentaries, television shows and Internet web sites. A web site that combines them all together is the "Styles of Conscience." Here is a link to the website:

Religiously, God is the only one that knows when the individual person will pass away. However do not be confused. There is no mention about mankind as a whole. This is only in reference to the individual person or immediate group.

12/21/2012 The Mayan Long Count (Calendar): The first day of the Long Count is labeled 0.0.0.0.1, which is equivalent to August 11th, 3114 B.C. based on our current Gregorian Calendar (a.k.a. the date the pure breed of mankind left the garden). The Long Count calendar ends at 12.19.19.17.20, which is the equivalent to December 21, 2012. However 12.19.19.17.20 technically does not exists, as the last date never occurs so the last date would be 12.19.19.17.19 - 12/20/2012. The date 12/21/2012 is 13.0.0.0.0 in the long count and has been open to debate.

13.0.0.0.0 also signified the appearance of the hidden 13th Zodiac Astrological Constellations as follows:

01: Pisces the Fishes 12 Mar to 18 Apr Equinoctial Venus [Feminine Aspect]
02: Aries the Ram 19 Apr to 13 May Solid Mercury [Masculine Aspect]
03: Taurus the Bull 14 May to 19 Jun Bicorporeal Moon [Feminine Aspect]
04: Gemini the Twins 20 Jun to 20 Jul Solsticial Sun [Masculine Aspect]
05: Cancer the Crab 21 Jul to 9 Aug Solid Mercury [Feminine Aspect]
06: Leo the Lion 10 Aug to 15 Sep Bicorporeal Venus [Masculine Aspect]
07: Virgo the Maiden 16 Sep to 30 Oct Equinoctial Mars [Feminine Aspect]
08: Libra the Scales 31 Oct to 22 Nov Solid Jupiter [Masculine Aspect]
09: Scorpius the Scorpion 23 Nov to 29 Nov Bicorporeal Saturn [Feminine Aspect]
***10: Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer 30 Nov to 17 Dec Bicorporeal*** Saturn [Feminine Aspect]
11 Sagittarius the Archer 18 Dec to 18 Jan Solsticial Saturn [Masculine Aspect]
12: Capricornus the Sea Goat 19 Jan to 15 Feb Solid Jupiter [Feminine Aspect]
13: Aquarius the Water Carrier 16 Feb to 11 Mar Bicorporeal Mars [Masculine Aspect]

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
M.G.S.

This is very interesting. I think the end of the world is very soon, since the world is so chaotic and crazy. Although the Mayans were very accurate, the reason why the calendars stopped was because they disappeared before they could finish. I just hope that people will realize to become close to God, the person that has promised to come back and save them from the craziness.

there is no scientific evidence that the world will end in 2012.
anyone can predict the end of the world, how accurate you are with the prediction is the discussion.

There are other "End of Time" stories, but I have to agree with the Bible and it says he'll return as in the twinkling of an eye. (not verbatim)
The Mayans I must agree were more precise in their calculations.

The Mayan Prophecy does not say 2012 is the end of time.

It predicts a polar axis shift. Not all the way like South to North, just a few degrees.

While this would have a devastating affect on our environment it will not kill everyone on the planet or make the Earth explode.

It happens every couple thousand years and will happen again in another couple thousand years.

Some people see this as a spiritual prophecy, like armageddon, while others see it as just science. Some even see it as a prophecy for cultural collapse and change.

Whatever it is, there is definitely a BIG change coming.

I would think it was very silly if the scare mongers were not so successful.

Ever since the 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenario did not pan out, the scare mongers have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett…

    With love in Christ.

I'm in total agreement with you. I'm bewildered and still awestruck on how an ancient culture, without technological advancements managed to so accurate. I highly doubt it was just dumb luck.

As for the end of time, part of the question: It may or may not be. But I do believe something terrible will happen on that date.

It is believed to be the end of time because it is on that particular date that our planet begins to take spin out of the current processional boundaries. We are presently in the Processional age Pieces.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus is often symbolized with a fish? It is because he is the main figurestone, or icon if you will, of Pieces. The same instance with King Tut and his symbolization with a bull, thus indicating Torus.

It is on that particular date that the Earth heads out of Pieces and into Aquarius. Like that old song says "This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius."

It's uncertain if the calendar ends there simply because of this reason or because of some world devastating disaster expected to happen. Or perhaps the Mayans just got tired of writing it or were wiped out by Spanish Conquistadors. We really don't know what, if anything, will happen on that date.

However, one coincidental factor about the End of times in correlation with the Mayan Calendar comes from the Bible. Where Jesus preaches about the End of the Age. Could he have literally meant the Age of Pieces?

It's not certain, but an interesting theory. And part of me is really scared to see what'll happen.

2012 is the end of the Maya Long Count. On December 21, 2012, what the Mayas called the “Great Cycle,” will also end. Because of this, and that they think the Mayas really knew what they were talking about (if they predicted the apocalypse) people have been predicting that December 21, 2012 will be the apocalypse. I think most of it is just to scare others and get the scared people to buy the doomsayers books so the doomsayers make a lot of money. From the Hubble Space Telescope to Planet X to the pole shift, there is an explanation to why it is not true. Each chapter has one myth as its topic; by the end of the chapter that myth will be debunked!

The Mayas were a Mesoamerican civilization that is known for their amazing art, and their mathematical and astronomical systems. Since the Maya calendar ends on December 21, 2012, people think that on December 21, 2012, the Mayas predicted the apocalypse. Even though scientists today say they did not. Even if they did, many scientists today believe the Mayas would have had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.

Doomsayers say Planet X (sometimes called Nibiru) is a planet that is somewhere near Neptune that will hit the earth and kill us all. It will kill us either from the impact on earth
from Planet X or the pole shift (next chapter) that is said to happen if Planet X hits Earth.
But this Planet X myth is soon to be debunked because I have an explanation for why it does not exist!

Scientists used to say that there was something strange orbiting around the planet Neptune. But in recent years, scientists have found nothing strange orbiting around Neptune. That means no planets. And that means no Planet X.

Some people say that NASA took a picture of Planet X in 1983. That is also wrong. The IRAS satellite did discover something, but it was off in a far away galaxy.

Doomsayers claim to see a “second Sun” when taking pictures of the Sun. They automatically start saying “Oh my God, it’s Planet X!” It is actually a reflection of the Sun on the camera.

Joshua told a story of a long day while the West Coast Indians told stories of long nights. Doomsayers say that this means Planet X has already hit earth and the earth stopped rotating and later started rotating again. A planet can just stop moving and start moving again!

There is a photograph taken by the Hubble Telescope in June of 1997 that doomsayers say is Planet X. It is actually Io. Io is a moon of Jupiter, not some planet that is going to hit earth and kill us all. The same goes for all of the space photographs that people claim to be Planet X. It is either fake or a picture of a moon or planet that has not been discovered before.

Many scientists and astronomers have been looking for Planet X for an extremely long time. And they have not found anything that they can say is or is related to Planet X. There is no evidence that Planet X exists or ever existed, so no one at all can tell you that Planet X is real.

    All just to scare people
    All false
    All wrong
    All lies
    All fake

    No Evidence
    No Proof
    No Right
    No True
    No Planet X

Nostradamus said that “The head of the church will be taken prisoner. And his palace will go up in flames.” This means Nostradamus believed Rome, where the pope is, will be destroyed. Doomsayers say that this will cause the Catholic Church to fall. They also say that the end of the church will mean the end of the world. I predict that this is very wrong. O.K. maybe Nostradamus predicted the September 11, 2001 attacks, but there was a reason why it happened. This was a popular prediction, so why didn’t anybody do something! They knew Nostradamus predicted an attack in September 2001. And they went off with their daily lives and BOOM. Many people died.

Even though I don’t think it will happen, there is a way to prevent it. The leaders of Israel and Rome at that time can take extra caution. They can make sure everything goes alright and that there is no chance of sneak attacks so there is no destruction of anything.

A pole shift is a rare and unpredictable thing that happens. It is where the North Pole and the South Pole switch places. Some people say a pole shift will occur in December 21, 2012 because of Planet X (witch has been debunked). Others say it will just happen because it will happen. I have figured out a good reason why this is impossible. A pole shift takes about 5,000 years to complete. So even if a pole shift starts in 2012 or even if it starts tomorrow morning, we will all continue to live normal lives and die of old age.

Many people doubt what I just said because they say the earth’s magnetic field will drop down to zero. That is wrong because if it does happen, our magnetic field will not go away, in fact it will stay exactly as strong as it is right now, it will just get more complicated.

A big reason why I think 2012 will not be the apocalypse is because there have been so many apocaly
