Why are Democrat feminists praising Palin?

“We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling,” said Camille Paglia, the cultural critic. “That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails.”

Palin is extremely likable, and she is the feminist ideal: Strong, smart, likable, cute as a button, a mother, and politically powerful. What woman wouldn't want their daughter to be just like her? I've never thought of McCain as brilliant before, but I do now.

They are praising her because a woman should have won the election this year, Hilary should have won but show pony Obama took it, Obama is a showman, an entertainer nothing else and god help us if he wins. Palin is a strong young woman, a mother and a politician. She has a long future ahead and the democrats must see the mistake they made. I hope McCain wins. Obama is fake!

    We are not...

    Who said that?

There are no feminists in the Republican Party... ZERO.

Oh... it was camille... of course...
Look at her wikipedia page and you will see that the endorsement is not one that McCain wants...

Palin is the antitheses of a "liber"

(note to YA-tale Palin off your spell check)

She just did it and the person Palin is where she's at because she is.
Or maybe it's because those who wanted to mess with her knew she had a gun.

Shes' not a poster child for liberation she's a poster child for self determination and success.

I'm not a woman, but I do consider myself a feminist.
And I can't stand the pick.

Sarah Palin goes against EVERYTHING that women have worked for.
If McCain is elected, they might as well knock women back into the stone ages.

That'd be a lot less painful than what McCain and Palin are going to do.

They recognize a smart and strong woman, a leader amongst her peers and a positive person to break the glass ceiling.

    Why wouldn't they?

Maybe it is because she is sounding more like a real person instead of a politician. I am pretty sure most people are tired of the government saying they are going to do something right until they get into office.

I'm sure Sarah Palin is tough, and intelligent. You don't rise to Governor of any state without being politically savvy, and she better be tough as nails because metaphorically speaking she's about to get pounded with a 16 lb sledge hammer.

What the hell do you mean? I'm a female! I'm a Democrat! I'm a feminist and I'm not praising that right wing nutjob! In fact, with the United States having a female politician who is such a right wing extremist and might be second to the president if McCain wins in November scares me. She doesn't support any women's issues, including birth control and doesn't think people should be taught evolution or have a proper sex education.

Well, I am one of many democratic feminists in my family. My mother, grandmother and I were for John Edwards and my aunt was for Biden and my great aunt was for Hillary. None of us are for McCain, so we're not praising Palin, the only reason we're glad McCain chose her is because the race is pretty much over now. Obama is going to win.

And I love how except for my answer, the rest of the answerers are men. Isn't this a little sexist?
