A person has not ridden a bicycle since they were 10 years old and decided 25 years later to ride.?

Would it come back automatically or would the person have to relearn how to ride a bicycle? Would it be harder for an adult to learn than a child?

Ever heard the phrase, "It's like riding a bike?". You never forget, just takes a little bit to get your groove back. Just don't have any doubts and ride that damn bike.

It does not sound like a bad thing at all. Having to bike ride is fun and it is great exercise.

You never forget how to ride a bike... seriously. your body will automatically adjust to be balanced.

It will come naturally. It may feel weird at first but eventually you will pick up right where you left off.

The hardest part for a child learning the bike is balancing which at 35 years old shouldn't be too much of a problem.

i have actually just gone through the same scenario and now i ride my bike everywhere, it comes back and is lots of fun, i also lost 14 pounds in the first 5 weeks

It might be weird at first but after a couple mins it will all come back. Once you learn than you always know.

its like walking. once you learn, you'll never forget. But, if you sit down for 25 years and then stand up and walk...it might take a minute to feel comfortable. Riiiiiiight?

The brain does not forget unless it's injured. It's easier for a child to learn than an adult. Adults have too many hang ups and inhibitions. Children are care free.

you wont forget about the same because you can understand how its done when you are an adult and when you are a kid you dont care how you just do it.

I would think it would come back automatically. I hadn't ridden my bike for like 4 years, and I got on it the other day and I was just as good as ever.

In the event that the person DID forget how to ride a bike, I think it would be easier to learn as an adult than as a child. The reason being, children have less coordination and not very well developed balance.

Thats funny you ask that.

I havent rode one in like 2 years, always rode a Go-cart, 4-wheller.

Rideing a bike compared to a car is VERY different, and when I picked one up the other day I was a bit flimsy.

So if your going to try it, make sure you balenced on something befor you take off on your trip down leg pain and joint lockups.

Also, 25years is a long time.Bring water with you sence its so hot right now.

Well, thats a 15 years difference, but here is my experience...

I used to do little kid bmx and trail riding when i was a kid. Not for a team or nothing...I'm just sayin'...I loved it.

When I was 12 years old I was riding my bike. I had really long hair and long story short, it was windy, couldn't see, hit head on a very inconveniently placed block of concrete and bolts, sent to hospital, hospital in small town couldn't take care of me, airlifted to Seattle, stayed there, didn't ride another bike until I was 17.

When I was 17, I got on the bike and I was very wiggly. Actually, someone was on the handlebars and I accidently crashed them into a pile of compost and manure lol. And just recently, at the age of 20, I've been riding bikes consistently. Even went on a very spontaneous 30 mile bike ride!

So, it's somewhere in the middle regarding how fast you pick it up. You'll still remember, kinda how my fingers remember which notes on the piano to play, but if I try to figure it out in my head, I forget the song completely.

It'll come to him easier than as a child, but he won't be a pro at first.

I learned how to ride a bike at 6. Never rode one again for like 16 years.
I just rode one the other day no problem.

you will need to practice but it will be easier as you have already so called "learned the basics". You will find it gradually easier once u get the hang of it
