Isn't it funny how car commercials advertise their cars as environmentally friendly and how they get x MPG?

A lot of different cars have been getting the same advertised MPG as the so called new fuel saver ones do.

No it is basic sales 101, if your product does anything well then you want consumers to know so they will buy it.
