I do not understand why the United States would stand by and let Russia invade one of its own states(Georgia)?

Georgia is a country close to Russia that has vast oil reserves, created when the USSR broke apart. The oil reserves are believed to be the reason that Russia has invaded.

Last news I heard was the the Russian army is heading north towards Washington and expect to take over the government sometime tomorrow. Mr Bush will be there to welcome them with a few cases of vodka.Hope this helps as it seems you need a lot of it.
