4th of July wedding centerpieces?

Question

I don't want flags and all that stuff. I want to stick to blue decorations, and Ive been racking my brain for ideas. I want something that lights up, but not just candles either (unless they're part of a unique centerpiece). Also, I think I might like blue fiber optic flower arrangements, but I can't find them online. Any ideas? Or does anyone know where I can find a variety of fiber optic floral arrangements?

So early on in my wedding planning, I had two things decided: I loved cobalt blue glass vases (which I collect), and I wanted red roses. It took me a few days to realize how patriotic it would look, especially since my wedding was July 19. But I still think it would look beautiful, especially if you want a classy way to incorporate the colors. Cobalt vases are expensive to buy outright, so if you have time, hit up lots of garage sales and "flea markets". I've gotten them for as little as 25 cents a piece, and no more than $2 for a large vase.

Red,White and blue arrangments would be nice.Go to your craft shop if they can't help you maybe they can tell where to look.Lots of luck.

no I don't know where you can find it, but for the lights you can try going on-line for those water lights that you drop in water looks very nice.

I know this will sound strange, but what about floral arrangements with sparklers in them (unlit of course) Fiber optics are going to cost you mucho bucks. Keeping it simple usually works the best. How about having a great fireworks display at your reception?

Are you sure you want fiber optic flowers? The optics are just around the edges and don't show up nicely unless the room is real dark, much darker than a typical reception would be. Look in to some other options - I'm feeling that you are thinking outside the 'box' so how about a battery powered 'lava lamp'

Try LTD or Current catalogues - they have stuff like that. Also, how about using a battery operated tea light candle buried in the middle of a clear vase full of blueberries?

Fiber optics will cost you a pretty penny unless you can find kids toys (but then you run the risk of them looking cheap). I saw some at Academy yesterday in the kids toy aisle. You could place candles in a blue vase and it would give off a nice soft glow. I think you would need more color to pop though, so think about adding maybe white or clear crystals around the table, or a mirror under the vases. You could try clear bowls with blue rocks in the bottom filled with water with floating candles of your choice of color/design. I really like the idea of a flower arrangement with sparklers sticking out of it (unlit of course!) I have also seen clear vases filled with colored sand. You could use red and white sand with a blue candle on top. Or all blue sand... You could have bowls of blue candy in the center with candles around the bowls. Here is a picture with blue fiber optic in it. It looks really pretty, and may be able to be made into centerpieces, depending on where you live, just bring the picture with you to the florist. This one is located in California.
