Axis Powers Hetalia is basically a webcomic-turned-manga-turned-anime about the world's countries turned into bishonen and left to play out World History, cracky boys' love style. All the countries have their intense stereotypes (Canada covers everything in maple syrup, Russia's snow-crazy, and America loves pizza). Countries merging mean a marriage, alliances (usually) mean a relationship, countries splitting are a divorce.

To read english scanlations, go here: http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia…

That's the Livejournal for it~
For profiles of some of the countries, go here: http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia…

And if you know Japanese... you can go to the main webcomic page, whose address currently escapes me...

or the anime page: http://hetalia.com/

Hetalia is the title of an animated series scheduled for production in Japan. Originally a web cartoon, the popularity of Hetalia led to the production of a drama CD(a voice drama acted out by voice actors, same as a radio drama)and the animated series has just been announced.

Hetalia features a cast of minor characters, such as Canada, France, China and Korea. The three Axis powers are portrayed as handsome men as boys.

The creators of Hetalia have beautified the perpetrators of one of history's greatest crimes and seek laughter in one of history's greatest tragedies.

They have not shown any remorse or regret regarding their past actions. That such a cartoon has a following large enough to generate commercial interest and exploitation reflects the ignorance of the people.

Hetalia's Hitler is a well-humored, attractive, handsome young man. Japanese imperialism, militarism and nationalism have found a well-supported medium in the country's 21st century cultural exports.

You aren't supposed to take it that seriously, INTIKUMA.

If you actually READ the comics, you would see that they personify the countries THEMSELVES (as in the land and the society), NOT the people who run it. Germany constantly complains about his "boss" (Hitler) making him do undesirable things.
