I melted a rubber dildo on dishwasher element - can you help me figure out what to do safely?

This is a bit weird, I know.

I was washing my rubber dildo in the dishwasher, as I have many times before. (The box reads “dishwasher safe for residential-grade dishwashers.”) But something happened this time – somehow, something went wrong and some of it ended up melting on the heating element. Some of the rubber even burnt and turned black and the inside of the dishwasher smells of melted/burnt plastic. Some plastic dishes I had in the dishwasher at the time also retain the smell even when I try to clean them in the sink with soap and water.

The dildo melted at a, well, a critical area for the functionality of the device, so needless to say it’s ruined.

I do, however, want to be able to safely use my dishwasher again, though. So tell me:

- How do I get the melted rubber residue off the element?
- How can I get rid of the burnt plastic-like smell (both inside of the dishwasher and on the plastic dishes I was also washing at the time)?
- When will the dishwasher be safe?

Additional Details

Zoe696969, I would like to tell you that the dildo and the dishes were washed sererately, but I admit they were not. I combined loads because I try to save water and energy. It cost too much for anything and I really can't afford to do do two loads when I can do one. That's why I asked also how to get the smell of burnt plastic off the dishes too, as soap and water under the sink did little to remove the smell from them so far.

Thanks for the tips so far, folks!!!! I sure do value your suggestions.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG ARE U F'N SERIOUS?!?!?! If this is for real I would suggest:

1) Saw off anything that resembles a dildo.
2) Call a repair man and tell him it was a plastic dish or something.
3) If this doesn't work, you may need a new dishwasher.
4) To get rid of the smell, just put some vinegar or baking soda or dishwasher soap in a load. Don't use both together obviously. Separately though, they could get rid of the smell.
5) Next time perhaps putting the dildos in a washing machine, bathtub, sink or other non-melting device would be a good plan.
6) If you do put them in the dishwasher, I DO hope you do them in a separate load and not WITH your actual dishes! No offense but I would not wash my dildos in the same thing I wash my dishes in! Hopefully you don't have people over for dinner too often! LOL!

At any rate, best of luck to you. It sounds like a real mess!

it may seem like i know alot about melted dildos... but ... really i have had it happen with other plastic stuff..like lids to containers...

nonetheless, wait for it to cool then take a butter knife or by hand and take off what u can by hand or scrape with the butter knife... then after that to get the residue off... use a sos pad (best) or just the scrubby part of scrubber sponge... and then look for any other pieces left behind and do a good long hot rinse it will be fine.. will stil smell plasticky at first... but itll be good to go

one more thing as far as the smell in the washer and on the dishes.. put about 1/8 of a cup of bleach in the bottom of it with the dishes in ti that were platic smelling and this should clear things up let it make a full wash cycle

also i have a child and if u go into the baby section they have these plastic containers that hold things like bottle nipples and plastic rings for the dishwasher get one of them and put it in there and put it on the top rack

you can buy a new element fairly cheaply i know oven elements are only like 40 bucks so i am guessing the dishwasher one is about the same. pretty easy to install, just unplug undo the screws for the element and d/c the two wires and install the new one. you can get dishwasher cleaner too so wash that a few times and it should be right, throw away the plastic plates and maybe get a new dildo and think about hand washing... i mean common how damn dirty does it need to be to go threw a half an hour wash in a dish washer.. btw can i come over to your house for dinner one time?

it might be time to get a separate dishwasher for such purposes. To save water and electricity, get all your friends to chip in for the costs and wash theirs as well. You might even get enough MEMBERS to form some kind of business venture. A sensible starting point would be to go next door and discuss the matter with the neighbours.
