HOw to get into safe mode?

put on your pc.
wait till your motherboard logo dissappears.
As soon as your motherboard logo dissappears (before windows xp logo appears)
press F8
you will be presented with a lot of options

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt

blah blah blah

choose the one you want

Turn on the pc and after the lights on the keyboard flash start pressing F8. It will take you to a menu. Use the up/down arrow to select safe mode from the list and hit enter.

I seem to remember pressing F8 when booting up the computer. Used to have to do this to run Defrag on an old computer I had.

Restart your computer > When it's loading, hold F8 button > Choose Safe Mode.

windows: when your computer boots, right before you see your windows logo (boot screen) and hold down F8, you will see from there.
Mac: boot holding down SHIFT
