Not all public courts are the same. I know for a fact the one in my neighborhood has its line too close

The freethrow line is at 15 feet from the rim. Most playground or public courts usually have the freethrow line where it should be. But if not, you can usually estimate it pretty close. I always would rather shoot too far away than too close.

It's usually the three point line that is shorter. Usually public courts have the three point line at the college length.
