The Shining Auditions for Jack Torrence - Jack Nicholson?

Does anyone know what other actors auditioned for the part of the original Shining with Jack Nicholson? I searched on line but cannot find any info. Does anyone have any links which answers it. Thanks! One of the classic horrors.

I can't find any links to answer this but I had heard (or read) from somewhere that the director, Stanley Kubrick, didn't have much enthusiasm for the audition/casting process.

According to details on the IMDb page for the movie, Kubrick considered Robin Williams and Robert De Niro. Stephen King (author of The Shining) wanted either Michael Moriarty or Jon Voight; he had originally wanted Jack Palance to play the role.
