Has anyone else noticed that this country has become more hateful and intolerant since Bush became President?

I think Republicans and Democrats alike have become so angry at what Bush has done to this country, that hate and intolerance is running rampant. I've never seen anything like it before. He not only lied and manipulated Democrats, but Republicans as well. I've never seen so much hate and anger from the American people as I've seen in the last couple years. The only problem is they're taking it out on each other rather than the man in the Whitehouse who brought us to this point. Unfortunately, the hate and anger will linger for a long time to come, when Bush will walk away scott free in January and never will admit to doing anything harmful to the American people.

Additional Details

The Democrats have only been slightly in control for 2 years. What about the 6 years the Republicans were in control.

You've all proved my point. We take our hate and intolerance out on each other, rather than the man who turned prosperity to havoc and chaos.

Thank you for helping me in writing my thesis.

To Shubunki: Bush didn't need the Democtrats to make him look bad. The fool did it all on his own.

Of course it is and it was that way under Nixon (The Silent Majority), Regan, and also with Regan. The Republican can only win elections by getting Americans to turn against Americans. They can't run on what they truly represent, RICH PEOPLE, there are not enough of them to win an election.
They already figured that one out. So they run by fooling stupid people in mostly Red States to vote against their own self interests. It's not working this year, that's why they will loose. They are trying every kind of race and immigration card in the book, but have failed, so far. All those other hateful Republican Presidential candidates already failed in the primaries. Now that McSame is the candidate and he has sort of a mixed message on immigration nobody is talking about it anymore.

Asker's Comment:
I think you're right. Those who voted for him were the one's who received the least from him. Maybe it doesn't matter as long as they have a president who says he speaks to a higher presence to help him make decisions. I wonder who he spoke to this time? His decisions have caused havoc and chaos.

Yes. That is precisely why we need Obama to restore some kind of order back into America. He will rebuild this country and mold it into the great nation we were before Bush and Co. ran us into the ground.

He has not caused the problem at all! He has kept us from terrorists! He has tried to help this country out, and has fought this democratically controlled congress to no avail! Don't blame him for all our problems!

I have no use for Democrats. The mistakes of President Bush have nothing to do with it.

I can't stand a group of that didn't do a damn thing to help me when I was poor and now wants to confiscate an increasing percentage of my earnings and force me to help people who I neither know or care about.

Yes, it's true. I am angry that a large portion of our population has sought to destroy our country just to make our president look bad.

Well, being a committed Independent I find it amusing that it is the Liberal Democrats who consistently use that word, not conservatives, and then turn around and say they don't.

    Amazing!.

I love the fact that your question leaves us no room to disagree with you. Either we have noticed it, or we haven't noticed it yet. We can't say that we totally disagree with every generalization and untruth in your paragraph. Before you criticize President Bush, why don't you tell us what you would have done? Then we can criticize you, lie about you, and write stupid questions on yahoo answers about you.

Hey! Haven't you heard? GW is a born again Christian. He is doing what is right for Christians. Pro life - bash gays- don't worry so long as you have Christian values. Jesus leads him to fight the Axis of Evil. If the rest of us were born again we wouldn't have these problems. He wants a secular society in Iraq but an evangelical Christian one in the US.

The loons on the far left hate anybody that does not agree with them. When they lost the hate escalated and got worse with the Democrat congress fueled by the left wing blogs, Soros and the lame-stream media.

I'm guessing you're too young to remember the Clinton years.

Hate has existed in the same proportions forever. You notice it more now because of the internet.

I think Obama is starting a movement, that is far more hateful than the Bush Government ran.

I think the Denver Convention, will be full of more hateful people, because of the unfairness of the Primaries.

With a Obama Presidency, I can see it getting worse, instead of better.

Clinton needs to win this nomination at the convention.

I agree. And he will never even read press that talks like this, or blogs, or look on the internet to see what people are saying about him.

People are mean-spirited in our country, unlike ever before. You can see it mostly right on the highway, with rude behavior, road rage, & people using their cars as a weapon. WE SHOULD NEVER GET IN OUR CARS MAD, & THEN DRIVE ANGRY.

People might assume "it's just the way things are," but like you say, people don't even realize why they are so angry.

Here where I live in Florida, we have about 10% unemployment, but they won't tell you this. I know it because of all the real estate & mortgage & construction people out of work - but their numbers will not go on the books, since they weren't "employees." So, there are many people with no job, trying to put food on the table for their families, only to find gas is $4-5/gal & that food has DOUBLED in the last year! They are leaving the grocery store with only half of what they needed, & then running out of gas on the way home!

For the haves, it is hard to imagine. In times like these, we need to reach out & help our neighbors. If you see someone stuck on the road, HELP THEM. If someone has a flat, PULL OVER & HELP. If the single mom in the grocery line ahead of you is short a few bucks, PAY THE DIFFERENCE. HOLD OPEN THE DOOR FOR ALL SENIORS & SMILE, LOOKING THEM IN THE EYES.

Check on your neighbors. People don't want to admit they are hurting, but there may be people in need on all sides of you. Visit them. Take them food when they are sick. Offer to pick up or carpool kids over the summer. Have meals together with a neighbor you've never met. MAKE YOUR COMMUNITY FRIENDLIER. You will find that in giving of yourself, you will receive way more than you could ever have bargained for.

One day soon we will be asked to volunteer for causes that lift America up again, & get our economy moving again. I will be on that train, & together, we will make America GREAT again. If enough believe it, we can make it happen.

there has always been a level of competition for electors but you are correct about the level increasing as the the personal attacks on both sides.

i have been doing a lot of research of late and have discovered some things that i have began feel that this is no coincident and it does have a lot to do with Bush. in particular, George Soros' hate for him...Soros has been buying up media, politicians and public opinion. i won't bore you with details but suggest that you look into it for yourself. if you are indeed doing a thesis this might prove interesting for you to follow the money, the man and the media.and draw your own conclusions as to the validity and his motives.

He is responsible for the economic downfall of several nations to gain political power and promote his vision of what he thinks the world should be with him to guide it. moveon.org and media matters are two of his creations that influence people and give them their talking points. again, check it out for yourself rather than dismiss it.

i don't agree with all that Bush has done but no one is as bad as Soros' and his minions have influenced people to be..i have been voting since 1961 and have never seen it as bad as it is now. i am now convinced that it is not an accident.

it is no accident that christianity and patriotism are now trying to be be 'redefined'. i have neever seen such vicious chaacter assinations. i have never seen us so divided and Black Liberation Theology will not unite us but divide us further.
