Is hemlock a good wood to build with?

We are having our own lumber sawed up by a bandmill to build our house with. We have a good stand of hemlock, is it good to build with? Why or why not?

Typically framing lumber is usually spruce, pine or fir. Using the trees off your own property is great. Hemlock is in the same family and just as stable when properly kiln dried(this is key). Keep asking questions, possibly with a log cabin builder and custom home builders. good luck.
