Wedding color scheme with navy blue?

Question

It will be an early summer wedding and the bride doesnt want navy and white since it will look too nautical and this will be in the dry heat of the Southwest and nobody there will even know how to sail. I suck at the color wheel. Other colors to go with navy blue that wont come off as preppy and work with warmer colors?

i would go with something like a warm copper colour. If it was a winter wedding then ice blue and silver, but seeing as its summer, definitely a copper colour or berry (warm redish purple).

id pick sumthin besides navy blue, like red or even a light blue

My best friend did navy and gold and it was so pretty. The guys had black tuxes and her dress was a gold color. It was very elegant. She was married in the summer also.

Navy Blue and Gold def. Navy blue and yellow are the Navy colors...I'm in the Navy.....so go with gold. That will definately work with warmer colors. Congrats and best of luck to you. The sky is the limit!!!!

Well, a lighter color would be best given the darker navy.
Yellow
Lavender
Light Blue
Orange
Red
Gold
Silver

Since it's in the summer, a brighter color would probably be your best bet, like an orange or red hue.

I didnt think nautical, if she stays clear from any "patterns" and goes for things in either blue or white basics, she should be fine.

Brown is also a great option with some gold highlights
&Maybe green

Navy with a periwinkle blue, gold and pink would be a nice color scheme. Not all four would be dominant (the periwinkle and gold would be accent colors). Here's a sample inspiration board to show your friend.

Your friend could also choose a light shade of green to work with the navy/light blue/gold color scheme.

When you said navy blue, i immediately thought of an london blue topaz ring, center stone, that is surrounded by sapphires. I'd go with a lighter shade of blue...and maybe a touch of red, pink or yellow.
