That depends on what book your test is using for its answer key. The real answer (which is different than the answer your test is asking for) is muddled, as different sources claim different authors as the "forerunner of the literary movement known as symbolism." There is a very good chance that any answer you get on Yahoo answers will be wrong, according to your book (and thus, the test) at least. It just depends on which school of thought the individual answering belongs too.
