Painting porch when it is very humid outside?

Question

My husband and I decided to paint our porch today, we have already scraped off all the old paint, but now are wondering if we should wait to paint it, it is 75 degrees here and the humidity level is 77%, we live in a very humid area and it is only get worse since summer is right around the corner, will it hurt anything if we go ahead and paint it now?

I prefer to paint in high humidity. The paint takes longer to dry, and doesn't crack afterwards.

Thanks, we went ahead and painted it and it did take a long time to dry but it looks great

If you use an oil base paint you should be able to. You must go over it again after 24 hours.

i would wait, wood soaks up humidity, and when you paint it like that it will either mold, or shrink and all your paint will peel

No problem, humidity will only affect drying time.

Try to paint it on a cooler day(when it is less humid.) Hopefully you are using a waterbased Paint(latex) and that if there is alot of exposed bare wood from the scraping you are deciding to put on a primer first.(and then let that dry a day at least before the finish coat) otherwise you will be doing the scraping soon again.
I don't like to do that(scraping)work, so I make sure to do it right the first time - and it sticks 20 years
