Is Jimmy Carter history's greatest monster?

In a Simpson's episode Jimmy Carter is called "history's greatest monster". Of course this was meant to be a joke but with Carter’s weakness with Iran, his blocking drilling in ANWR which along with other mistakes has lead to U.S. dependency on foreign oil and his support of terrorist groups bent on the destruction of Israel and the U.S., could Jimmy Carter become one of history’s greatest monsters?

Additional Details

Yes I know that Bush is evil and all that and that he is a lizard person or whatever. Get over Bush for 5 minutes. It takes awhile for history to truly judge a Presidency and we can really look at the consequences of the actions of former Presidents like Carter. Also, Carter is still an active political figure so not everything he does in 30 years ago.

Nero & Hitler clearly have Carter beat now but no one wants to think ahead. What if Israel is attack by Iran under Carter Jr. (Obama) and the world is thrown into a World War. Maybe the last World War if you want to get all biblical. Then Carter’s actions and policies that helped lead to that war would have to jump him up the monster list right?

What’s wrong with the Simpson’s? I like Simpson quotes.

It is hard to think of an original question that gets people all riled up.

Using up the world's oil sounds like a good idea but it sure leads to a lot of problems when we let the world have us by the cahonas. Maybe we should go ahead and drill for our own oil now till we have something to replace it.

I wouldn't call him a monster, but he's certainly an inept bungler.

He's acknowledged as one of the worst presidents we've ever had. I wish he'd stay home and keep his mouth shut.

Inept bungler sounds about right. Sorry to all the members of the Jimmy Carter fan club for getting you guys all upset over a Simpson's quote. For the record I like Habitat or Humanity.

The same way I always do, here's his resume, facts are facts, worst president in U.S. History, by a wide margin

    Jimmy Carter's greatest hits
Thanks for the highest inflation in U.S. History,
    Thanks for that energy crisis,
Thanks for your failed middle east policy
Thanks for allowing IRAN to hold hostages in our own embassy for over 454 days,
Great JOB IN LETTING CASTRO empty out his jails and send us all his Killers, Rapists and drug dealers to the U.S., nice job on that one.
Thank god Reagan stomped your butt in 80 to clean up your failures

Wow. Gee, I don't know- there was this guy named Adolf a few decades ago, you may have heard of him. However if you choose to see Carter as someone who outdid him (or who even comes remotely close to having done so), that's your prerogative. (*Rolls eyes and sighs in disbelief*)

    Source(s):

EDIT: Two thumbs downs and counting for suggesting that Hitler was the greatest monster in history, and that there's no comparison between him and Carter. That pretty much speaks for itself, doesn't it?
EDIT 2- Nothing is wrong with the Simpsons- I love the Simpsons- *AS ENTERTAINMENT*. When people include them in political discourse, however, it's time to do some serious soul-searching and, as our fearless leader in Washington might say, ask ourselves "Is our children learning?"

    Nope. Bush is.

When are republicans going to stop blaming their problems in 2008, on a guy who left office 28 years ago???

Our gas guzzling 14 mpg SUVs are to blame for our energy crisis. If conservatives were so for new drilling in ANWAR and more oil refineries then why didn't the push those laws while they were in power for SIX YEARS????????

If we have more refineries, but oil still costs 135 bucks a barrel....how does that make it cheaper?

Do you thinking invading a nation right in OPECs back yard under false pretenses (WMDs anyone??) might be the reason they are driving the price of oil up and why they won't even talk to the Bush administration??? I thought our Iraq invasion was going to pay for itself with oil???

No. He didn't block drilling in ANWR. He encouraged oil exploration and development,as well as alternatives. The hostage thing has been discussed to death.

Oh, yeah -- Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan -- they have nothing on the massive evil that is Jimmy Carter.

Curse him for that lasting peace between Egypt and Israel.

If and when Jimmy Carter is responsible for the illegal invasion of a sovereign nation, and the deaths of 4200 US troops, then we can sit down and discuss it. In the mean time that tittle belongs to King George lV

Carter was the USA's most honest and ethical president. This is why he was smeared by the GOP. It's pathetic that some people still believe the lies.

    No, Bush is.

Now that we're over that simple fact let's talk about Jimmy.

His biggest fault was his including his brother Billy in important matters. Boy, was this wrong.

However, his non-Rambo approach to the Iran Hostage Crises after one failed attempt, which was not his fault, was probably the best way to not have anyone killed. Too many Americans watch too many exaggerated movies about gutsy, gun blazing rescues. These, people, for the most part, are fantasies. Please try to drag your brains away from Hollywood entertainment for a bit and try to comprehend reality. This is something Bush can't do and that is why we are at war (however undeclared) on Iraq and creating more and more hatred of the US.

The US dependency on oil is part of an overall plan to use the rest of the world's resources before using ours. Even if we drilled and refined more oil ourselves the market would still result in high oil prices as the market and oil companies determine. Do you wish to keep a free market environment in the world or do you want to dictate oil prices through government?

In Jimmy Carter's presidency the fact of high inflation was a world wide issue.

Inflation world wide caused high unemployment every where.

The oil crises was everywhere also having been manufactured by Big Oil.

Bush, on the other hand, began office with a good economy and an economic surplus and continued on to leave the government on the verge of having no money at all five times. He's had to beg before Congress five times to raise his borrowing limit. How are you Bushies going to pay off this dept with a failing economy? At a time when the world economy is still relatively strong though feeling the crunch of the costs of oil too.
