What are the steps to getting an e-85 gas station in my town?

I live in MA, which at the moment only has one ethanol station, that is planned to open in June. However, that is nowhere near where I live, and I was wondering how I can get a ethanol station closer.

What can people do to promote e-85?

Other than educating people about it because, that doesn't really get anywhere. What can I do that will be really effective?

See if you can find a bunch of other people with FFVs that want a station with E85. Do the good old petition thing and present it to some of the people who own the gas stations around you. If they see that there is a market, they may consider providing E85.

I just try to educate as many people I can. Even arguments on public boards like this or YouTube have the ability to persuade fence-sitters. If you do decide to take that route, be sure that you appear the more mature person by using good grammar, spelling and reliable sources. You can also start or join an ethanol supporting group (they do exist). You could promote it just the way you would promote anything else. if you are really a go-getter, organize an Eco-Meet and educate people about ethanol there. Also, stress that although current technology isn't perfect, developments are just around the corner to make it better. Educate, Educate, Educate.

Go to your local gas station and ask for it.

After a while, they'll get the idea.

As the other guy says, get signatures of all Flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) owners up and demand one.

You can also go to the city council and see if they can "legislate" something, even if it's a non-binding resolution (i.e. not enforceable) to promote its use.
