Is anyone else afraid that Obama will be assassinated?

I think that the secrete government's plan is to have Clinton be the president, but enough people care about this one enough to vote, so Obama is getting the nomination.

I'm afraid that they are going to assassinate him and just make it out like it was some racist person. Feels like 1968 all over again, MLK and Robert Kenedy all rolled into one.

I don't think Obama can be assisinated, because it would raise too many questions from all over the world and not just America.
I think it would cause a too great disturbance to be able to let this happen.

I think Hillary would have him killed in a new york minute if she could get away with it.When you look at the big picture from my understanding & the way i view it ,we are no better than a lot of our countries that did this.$$$$$ is the name of our game.A high offical in law enforcement told me that a person can get away with any crime as long as he has money & is willing to pay.Thats a shame & plain scary.Consider Mike Nifon the district attorney in N C, that tried to railroad those young men.He got 1 day in jail & lost his licinse to pratice law,but i'd almost bet he is doing fairly well right at this moment.I think he should go to jail like everyone else,but who said life is fair.??

I am a democrat and I want Clinton not because she is white but I think she has more experience Either way I don't see either beating McCain because normally there is voter apathy and only about 6% of registered voters show up and no matter who gets the democratic nomination there is 10 republicans for every democrat and this fall the republicans will be out in droves and slaughter either one so assasinations won't be happening 40 years ago it was a way different world that kind of stuff just can't be swept under ther carpet

Obama was receiving secret service protection earlier than any other presidential candidate in history. It is well recognized that there are elements in this country that would assassinate him on principle given half a chance, and the Secret Service will have its work cut out for them.

There are always going to be dissatisfied people in any country, and some of those people are going to have guns and be willing to use them, and it doesn't matter what your personal ideology is. Reagan and Kennedy were both shot at, even though politically they were about as diametrically opposed as could be.

All I will say is, if anything happens to Obama, expect the Rodney King riots to be a playground spat by comparison...

No. Obama will simply be defeated in November. Any candidate is in endanger, I don't agree with his views and I don't believe he has any hope of anything changing, but would not want anything to happen to him.

I would not be at all surprised if the hate-cult he is in assinates him for their own benifit. Hopefully not. Assassinations are carried out by nuts and even they can slip by the Secret Service details. As for the conspiracy theories grow up and get real. Today there is too much exposure by insiders and outsiders. Government secrets are leaked everyday. Does anyone really believe that hundreds of people could be involved in a horrible conspiracy event and that someone would not leak something over the years. Come on. As far as buying elections, yes. It has been shown that if you have a decent candidate and hundreds of millions of dollars you can by an election. That is why all of you should write your Senators and Representatives and tell them you demand both Lobbying and Campaign reforms. Guess who supports both? Senator McCain! He is the only one out of all the candidates who has actively worked Congress for change in both areas not to mention putting a stop to wasteful Pork Barrel and Earmark spending in Congress, which costs the American tax payers billions of dollars a year. That is certainly my fear. When I read the level of hostility on this site alone for Sen. Obama, I am afraid for him. They could take all of the dastardly actions of the Bush years (took the US to war), totally destroy the economy making it harder for everyone to live, but they can accept all of that just because Bush was white.

How would they have felt (as African Americans have) when the President of the US totally ignores them. New Orleans is an example of that, but we are quick to rush aid to Myanmar.
I agree with helping Myanmar, lest some think I am saying something else, but how do you call American citizens "refugees" as they did in New Orleans? Clearly, African Americans have long lived under presidents who have ignored their interests and, in order to vote, had to vote for one of them. No wonder they lost interest in the political process.

I don't think white America (in general) will be able to accept anyone other than another white American as president. Even if he is better than any other President on record, there will be attempts to get rid of him.

Ironically, Bush, who has been the worst president is not even questioned on his illogical policies.

I doubt it. There will be attempts, because of the deteriorating values of people and greed and prejudice, but I think the sophistication of communications and the scorn of the American people (if this were to happen) will put extra precautions and behind the scenes intelligence that will make this virtually impossible. I think any "attempts" will be from within, and dealt with in the most severe manner -- by the people and for the people and the reclaiming of America for the people! I think Obama has the potential to be one of the greatest Presidents this country ever had.
