They look totally different thats how i identify them. Mary Kate is a fashion hippie who is into retro styles. Ashley is a more modern high fashion chick who wears simple styles and makeup.

actually I know how. Mary Kate's jaw is different and there's like some...erm...bumpy stuff under her eyes. I learned how to by reading the Mary Kate and Ashley books last time. XD. Oh yeah, Ashley has softer features.

i dont think they have to say anything.
as the girls got alittle older thers a slight difference if you look close.
Ashley has a slightly fuller face, where as Mary-Kate has a pointier face! Also Ashley is nearly always on the left.
