No 1,200 is not anorexic people...anorexic is like 800. I went on a 1,000 calorie diet and i was fine. Although i only lost water weight and couldn't see a difference, so i think 1,200 is good, but maybe try even 1,300...eat raw veggies, sugar free puddings and stuff to substitute junk food, eggs, good big breakfast..ect.
    Good luck :)

Restricting your self to a certain amount of calories will only result in temporary weight loss. Once your body adjust to that calorie amount you will plateau - usually after a couple of days. You should be consuming between 1500-2000 a day. Make sure to consume different amounts at different times of the day and different amounts each day. This will trick your metabolism and prevent it from burning a set amount of calories. Your should never restrict yourself and never feel hungry. Eat several meals a day and add some activity to your schedule. This isn't a diet - it's a way of life. Once you've reach your goal then you can maintain a certain caloric intake based on your activity level.

Ya. I've been eating about 1200 cals a day, and doing 7 minutes of motionless exercise, and I've already lost 2lbs in the first 4 days. You lose 1 size in the first 14 days, or your money back. It's PERMANENT weight loss. And 75% of the weight loss from this diet is fat. This cost me $40. I got it at walmart. It's called Shapely Secrets. If it matters, I'm 5'3", 14, female, 128 lbs, pant size 3/5, and aiming for size 1.

just so you know 1200 calories is anorexic level. go to 1300-1500 depending on your weight and age and being somewhere in the middle of that. anyways, if you don't want to exercise and you want to lose weight strictly on eating habits (which, trust me, does NOT work if it is healthy) then the most effective way to do this is to eat about 20-30% (turkey, eggs are the best) and 40-50% vegetables and fruits.. 10-20% carbs, and the rest water

heres what i have been doing- its been a week and i've lost 2 pounds already!

breakfast- an apple (they have fiber so they are filling)

lunch - 400 calories (ex. apple, crackers, yogurt)

snack- 200 calories (1 piece of bread w/ peanut butter, or something else that is 200)

dinner- 400 calories (ex. 1 serving of meat - the size of a deck of cards, 1 serving rice/pasta/bread (around the size of your fist), and some vegetables

dessert- 200 calories (ex. chocolate milk, 1 cookie, a pudding, a scoop of ice cream in a cone, etc)

i know that this doesnt seem like the typical health nut diet, but it does work! since you eat normal foods, it makes you stay on it because you don't feel deprived of yummy stuff : )
just make sure you don't overeat... stick to it.

also- exercise each day - i play tennis after school, and have soccer twice a week. if you don't play a sport, try to walk more - like if youre going to a friends house, or walk to school/work etc... if its close enough.

    hope i helped!

This is what I've planned out for tomorrow:

    Breakfast:
    2 scrambled eggs 140cals
    1 banana 110cals
tea 20cals (with milk and splenda)

    Snack:
About a cup of blueberries 100 cals
A small glass of chocolate milk 100cals

    Lunch:
1 Large bowl of oatmeal 360cals
    tea 20cals

    Snack:
    Apple 90cals

    Dinner:
Whatever my mom is making but try to keep dinner under 400 calories.

That totals around 1250 and eating all this shouldn't leave someone feeling hungry.

This is just an example. You could substitute the eggs for toast or a small bowl of cereal. Lunch could be a salad or sandwich on whole wheat. Soup is a great option if it is water based (not cream of brocolli...etc).

For dinner, you could have two fish fillets with lemon and herbs + a little butter.

    Or

A sweet potato and a Salad.

Just eat things that are colourful. Don't stress about sticking to a certain meal plan. If you are going out, just eat 1/2 of what you normally would eat (if it's not healthy). Good Luck.

1200 calories for a day will just keep you alive.
This is the amount you need if you don't move around at all.
I suggest that you eat at least 1500 calories (if you are going to move around a bit). If you are active 2000 calories is fine.
Eat them in 4-5 meals. Don't eat it all at once.

If you eat too little amount of calories, you will just ruin your metabolism and you'll feel fatigue. Eat more and be more active. It's the best way to go on diet. Avoid junk food also.
    Drink a lot of water.

    Good Luck

For diet, try 3 to 5 meals per day consisting of fish and green vegetables. Two of the "meals" are really snacks, try lox on a wheat cracker with low-fat cream cheese.

Drink 8 glasses of water each day.
