what does it mean to be wide open? were did this term come from?

I'm really not sure where the term originated, however I first heard it about 5 years ago.
The term is used to say a person, most usually a male, is crazy in lust over a girl, and will ignore his friends, and generally focus total attention on her...

I am trying to leave a comment and it says I have 300 words...I only have around 60
saying comes from a chemical reaction that the body goes through during times of excitement or fear...part of our natural instinct of flight or fright....Hormones are released that restrict the blood vessels...This opens the nasal passages and gives the nose a feeling of being "wide open"
Mostly african-american ppl use this term...I know b/c I'm AA. It simply means to really be in love with another person. Head over heels...really into them. Blinded by love..that's all. When one of your friends are into a man & you notice, the response is usually..."girl yo nose is wide open" :)

- Isn't the expression to have your eyes wide open, which is to watch out for things. Don't have blinkers on.
Nose wide open must mean be ready for unexpected smells!!!
