1.) HABIB BOURGUIBA.
He was the first president of Tunisia. He implemented:
*Female emancipation, giving women equal rights to men, including the right to vote before women in the US had that right. He also set up family planning education for women.
*Education, which included working to improve literacy
*Healthcare that is state-run and modern
*Building the country's infrastructure
There are so many more great things he did for the country, but those are just a few.
2.) ZINE EL ABIDINE BEN ALI.
The current Tunisian president. He has helped to boost the tourisim in the country, improve in government efficiency and reduce the trade deficit, and increase foreign investment.
3.) ALBERT MEMMI.
He is a writer and essayist.
His best-known nonfiction work is "The Colonizer and the Colonized", about the interdependent relationship of the two groups. It was published in 1957, a time when many national liberation movements were active. In October 2006, Memmi wrote a follow-up to this work, titled "Decolonization and the Decolonized," in which he suggests that in the wake of global decolonization, the suffering of former colonies cannot be attributed to the former colonizers, but to the corrupt leaders and governments that control these states.
Hope that helps. If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
