Why are they called the Olsen twins?

Question

Why are they called the Olsen twins if they both have different last names? Mary Kate, and Ashley Olsen. Why are they not called the Kate Twins? or the Kate-Olsen twins? It's also fascinating how 2 kids from different parents looked identical and both played the role of baby michelle on full house and now 20 some years later, they still look identical.

Well they used to have the same last names until one of them got married. And that is why they are TWINS..

Their names are Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. They are announced as "Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen" just as other twins might be announced "James and John Smith". Kate is not Mary-Kate's last name, it is part of her hyphenated first name (she has no middle name, and sister Ashley's middle name is I believe Fuller, which is her mother's maiden name).

They are twins, and they have the same mother and father. They are not identical twins, however-nor are they fraternal twins. They are a form of twins known as bi-polar. Fraternal twins are the result of two eggs and two sperm, identical twins are the result of one egg which divides into two after it has been fertilized by one sperm. Bi-Polar twinning is the result of one egg splitting into two before fertilization, and each half is then fertilized by a seperate sperm.

It's Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, mary-kate is a first name. And they are actually twins. Just futernal twins, I have an identical twin and we look pretty similar but not completely. I think if you try hardenough you can get any 2 people to look pretty simular and sense they were both from the same people they ended up looking pretty alike, of course they look different now, and mary-kate has natural brown hair and ashley has natural blonde hair.

You're not seriously asking this question? They are called the Olsen twins because they are identical twins! They came from the same parents and both have the same last name:Olsen! Kate is part of Mary-Kate's name, it is not her last name! it is Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. Have you heard of Sister, Sister, the TV show? Then you would know Tia and Tamera Mowry. Same concept as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
