'Technically' , Rene is the masculine form of the name. The feminine form is spelled Renee and if you want to more French, you can add an acute accent to the first e after the n.
So, it can be masculine or feminine.

I know several men with the name Rene - it is very common in some French families. As a feminine name it is usually spelled Renee.

I'd say more feminine... but absolutely acceptable for both guys and girls. I know (and/or have known) a few girls named Renee and one guy named Rene.

Spelled that way it is masculine - French. (Celine Dion's husband name is Rene.) Renee or Renea are feminine. The fem form is more common in the English language, obviously.
