avenged sevenfold is NOT metal. they're total posers.

ROCK:
boston, queen, rolling stones, etc.

HARD ROCK:
ac/dc, van halen, quiet riot, etc.

HEAVY METAL:
judas priest, iron maiden, savatage, etc

METAL:
slayer, megadeth, overkill, etc.

POSER METAL:
underoath, job for a cowboy, avenged sevenfold, korn, slipknot

ok, but underOATH is not poser metal, they're metalcore, and so is a7x and slipknow. korn is NuMetal.

Rock is a general term used to classify the Rock music genre and could range from Little Richie to Deth Klok. Hard Rock is more specific, as is Heavy Metal. That is about as much as I know.

I would not call avenged sevenfold metal.
rock is mellow, hard rock a little more exciting, heavy metal is metal, like death is metal, doom is metal. Metal is more of an extreme form of music

metal - Iron Maiden (there are soooooo many forms of metal)

ok so rock is like the 80's where its kinda mellow rock and hard rock is like papa roach and slipknot where its a little more harder than rock and metal like Avenged Sevenfold is where like its heavy but u can still understand their lyrics and last and my favorite because this is where its loud and out of controll like as i lay dying and u have to concentrate on the words the words to understand and they have freakin sweet guitar solos!!!!! so like i hoped this helped

For one, Whoever said Trivium are hard rock is an idiot.
There metal, simply.

Rock - Foo Fighters. Not heavy enough to be Hard Rock.

Hard Rock - Stone Sour. Heavy, but not quite metal.

Metal - Slipknot. Heavier than Stone Sour, fitting as a metal band.
Heavy Metal - Machinehead. Alot of heavy screaming and bold riffs.

And Avenged Sevenfold are a metal band in my opinion.
